Hockerton Housing Project (HHP) is a self-sufficient co-housing development. Five earth-sheltered homes are built with high thermal mass and high levels of insulation to eliminate the need for heating systems. Residents generate their own clean energy to meet their remaining energy needs. They also grow most of their own food, harvest their own water and recycle waste materials.

Intrigued by what an earth-sheltered home might look, or feel like, inside? Or wanting an overview of what it is to live sustainably? Join a small group tour, led by a resident of the project to give you a personal view on what it’s like to live in this sustainable co-housing project. This tour includes a guided walk around the site to learn about the food, water and renewable energy systems, a tour of one of the homes, and a presentation on the challenges faced during the build, and subsequent development, of the project.

Cost: £0-£20 depending on status.
