This traditional stone built house has been extensively extended and sustainably improved, aiming to be as near as possible zero carbon.

It was built in approximately 1760 with three extensions added in 1950s, 1970s and 2008.

The owners have installed a number of eco improvements to the house:
• Substantial high performance insulation on all walls, floors and roofs
• Underfloor heating everywhere
• Ground source heat pump, 12 to 15 kW (output) single phase.
• New more efficient wood burning stoves
• 4.4 kW peak photovoltaic panels on south facing roof
• 5 kW wind turbine
• Sunpipe to enclosed bathroom area
• High performance double glazing with thermally broken frames
• Maximum recycling of materials

Transport tips: It is a little hard to access by public transport (one mile or more from bus stops and two miles from Wirksworth station) but there are plenty of parking spaces and the house is accessible by cycle and walking. The house is Hillside Farm NOT Upper Hillside Farm. You will pass Upper Hillside Farm 200m before you reach the correct home.
